Increment to the degree mark for study and traineeship activities abroad

For students who successfully attended Study and Traineeship periods abroad, in accordance with document “Linee guida di Ateneo per il riconoscimento dei periodi di studio all'estero” approved by Senato Accademico on June15, 2010, and with the rules approved by the Collegio Didattico di Informatica on January 16, 2018, the Degree Mark (Voto di Laurea), formulated by the Degree Board (Commissione di Laurea) and based on the career of the student and on his/her final graduation exam, must also include an increment as an incentive aimed at rewarding the activities abroad.

For all exchange agreements in which the Computer Science Department is involved, the increment will be established by the Department Erasmus Committee observing the following criteria.

-       The increment can be granted only if the student has acquired at least 21 CFU at the Receiving Institution (in case of mobility for exams) or if the student attended the entire final thesis traineeship at the Receiving Institution.

-       The increment is computed summing two components, assessing 1) the quality and 2) the quantity of the activities performed at the Receiving Institution as well as of their results, as follows.

  • In case of mobility for exams
    • the quality component measures the quality of the learning activities abroad, according to the following intervals (average marks for the CFUs obtained while in mobility):
      • from 18/30 to 23,999/30: 0,5 point;
      • from 24/30 to 25,999/30: 1 point;
      • from 26/30 to 27,999/30: 1,5 points;
      • from 28/30: 2 points.
    • the quantity component measures the volume of the activities abroad:
      • at least 24 CFUs acquired in 1 academic semester: 0,5 point;
      • at least 48 CFUs acquired in 2 academic semesters: 1 point.
  • In case of mobility for the thesis traineeship period
    • the quality component measures the quality of the traineeship as assessed by the teacher of the Receiving Institution who supervised the student:
      • sufficient: 0,5 point;
      • good: 1 point;
      • very good: 1,5 points;
      • excellent: 2 points.
    • the quantity component measures the volume of the activities abroad:
      • traineeship for Bachelor’s Degrees (stage finale di Laurea Triennale): 0,5 point;
      • traineeship for Master’s Degrees (stage finale di Laurea Magistrale): 1 point.

In case the mobility includes both exams and thesis traineeship, the overall increment cannot exceed 3 points. In these cases, the Department Erasmus Committee will assess the overall quality and quantity components of the increase.

The Degree Board (Commissione di Laurea) will add the total increment (computed according to the criteria above) to the weighted average (computed in 110s) of  the marks of the exams in the career of the student. The Degree Board (Commissione di Laurea) will then add to this overall mark the mark granted for the final graduation exam, to produce the final Degree mark (voto di Laurea).
